Corns and calluses are hard thick growths on the skin that usually appear on the feet and toes. They are usually caused by excessive pressure and chafing of the skin. Calluses show up more often on weight bearing portions of the soles of the feet. They can also show up on the hands.
Home Remedies for Corns and Calluses
To prevent corns and calluses wear gloves when working with your hands. Be sure to wear shoes that are supportive and fit properly.
Soak your feet in warm water until the skin on the feet softens. When the feet are soft gently apply a pumice stone and file down the calluses and corns.
Soak feet in warm water and Epsom salts for about 20 minutes to soften calluses and corns. Then apply an herbal lotion on the feet such as a lotion with lactic acid or calendula as some of the main ingredients.
Take a small amount of fresh papaya slices or even papaya juice and apply it directly to the corns.
Apply pineapple juice twice daily for a few days to help the corns resolve.
