Gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a very common condition where food or liquids travel up from the stomach back up the esophagus causing partially digested food to cause irritation. This irritation is mainly from the stomach acids mixed in with the food coming up. Gerd can cause extreme irritation and even heartburn. It typically happens after meals and can be very hard to deal with. However there are home remedies and natural curs which can be used to cure acid reflux.
Home Remedies for GERD
Apple Cider Vinegar
Drink 2 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed with water 3 times each day. If you are having an extra heavy meal drink a higher concentration of apple cider vinegar.
Prepare a cup of hot water each night before bed add 2 tablets of cayenne pepper powder and drink down. It may not taste so good but it’s highly effective.
Stay away from trigger foods that contain large amounts of acid. Also avoid refined carbohydrates, sweets, fried foods, fast foods and processed foods. Focus on a diet rich in fruits vegetables and lean meats. Other foods which can bring on GERD are Citrus fruits, peppermint, alcohol, chocolate, juices, carbonated beverages, tomatoes, onions, garlic and spicy foods.
Quit Smoking
The nicotine found in cigarettes can actually weaken the lower portion of the esophageal sphincter making GERD worse.
Aloe Vera Juice
Aloe Vera juice is a wonderful remedy used to treat and prevent GERD. Drink about ¼ cup of aloe Vera juice about 30 minutes before a meal.
