Swimmers ear is mainly caused by excessive exposure to water. It is commonly seen with people who spend a lot of their time swimming. It is basically an infection and inflammation of the ear canal and external portion of the ear. Too much water can penetrate the skin and cause bacteria and fungi to be more likely to exist. There are many natural home remedies which can help to clear up swimmers ear.
Home Remedies for Swimmers Ear
Be sure that anything you place inside the ear is room temperature first.
After swimming or showering place 3 to 4 drops of apple cider vinegar diluted in equal parts of alcohol and water. This is mainly used as a preventative measure to help stop swimmers ear from happening in the first place.
Take some baby oil and place inside the ear with a dropper. Then place a cotton ball over the ear to prevent any drainage.
Mix equal parts of peroxide, white vinegar, and water together. Then use a dropper to place inside the ear. Be sure to tilt your head and allow the solution to do its job inside the ear.
Blow dry your ears gently to help remove moisture in the ears each time they get wet.
To prevent swimmers ear you can also wear wax silicone earplugs while you’re showering or swimming.
